In 2001, the Paducah Police Department established a four member Explosive Ordnance Disposal Unit (E.O.D. Unit or Bomb Squad) to update the Department's ability to deal with hazardous devices.  The unit trains twice a month and is one of five units in the State of Kentucky.  The unit is equipped with an array of disposal equipment purchased through federal grants under Homeland Defense.  Officer Will Gilbert , Officer Steve Smith, Officer Paul Stevenson, and Officer Anthony Copeland lead the team.
