In 2001, the Paducah Police Department established a four member Explosive Ordnance Disposal Unit (E.O.D. Unit or Bomb Squad) to update the Department's ability to deal with hazardous devices. The unit trains twice a month and is one of five units in the State of Kentucky. The unit is equipped with an array of disposal equipment purchased through federal grants under Homeland Defense.
