The Paducah Police Department utilizes officers to target hot spots when criminal activity increases in an area of town.  The team makes use of flexible hours, bike patrol, and community policing concepts to combat crime.  Officers use non-traditional means to solve problems.  Officers meet with community leaders, neighborhood residents, and church leaders to gain support.  Empowerment of the community is the key to successfully deterring crime.
