Staff 

The Paducah Fire Department has a staff of 67 divided into four departments: administration, prevention, training, and suppression.  Our staff of Professional Firefighters work full time to protect the citizens of Paducah and its visitors.  Under the suppression division, the Paducah Fire Department has three Assistant Fire Chiefs and 59 firefighters.

Fire Station Relocation and Renovation Report

In March 2008, a report was presented to the Commission that outlined the future needs of the fire department.  After reviewing response times and areas, there was a recommendation of relocating the fire department headquarters to Station 4 which would need extensive renovations.  Plus, due to the City's expansion west of Interstate-24, there is a growing need for an fire station on the west side of Paducah.  Click Fire Station Relocation and Renovation Report to view slides presented to the Commission. 

Fire Task Force Report

In May 2005, Mayor Bill Paxton appointed a "Fire Reduction Task Force" made up of Commissioner Buz Smith, Fire Chief Redell Benton, and City Manager Jim Zumwalt.  The Task Force was given the assignment to explore opportunities for reducing Fire Department cost and increasing Fire Department productivity.  At the January 10, 2006 City Commission Meeting, the Commission implemented the recommendations of the Task Force.  Click the following links for Task Force Report information in pdf format.
