The Halloween Short Story Contest through the Paducah Parks Services Department has come to a close with 395 entries. Sixth through eighth grade students from Reidland, Heath, Paducah Tilghman, Ballard, Carlisle, Graves, and North Marshall and South Marshall Middle Schools submitted entries. The Parks Department also received a few entries from homeschooled students.
The essays by the first place winners will be printed in the October Issue of Purchase Parenting and Family Magazine which will be available October first. At that time, the stories also will also be available on the City’s website www.paducahky.gov.
Each essay had to be typed with a maximum of 600 words. All stories were required to be about Halloween and begin with the following phrase: “The moon was full and a mysterious fog crept up the path as the darkness of the night settled in.”
6th grade winners
