Everyone is invited to celebrate the dedication of the Blackburn Court Community Center in honor of Reverend Raynarldo Henderson. The event, celebrating Reverend Henderson’s years of service to the Housing Authority of Paducah, will be held at 3:00 p.m. on Thursday, September 8 at the community center located at 1105 Walter Jetton Boulevard.
Reverend Henderson was appointed to the Housing Authority of Paducah Board of Commissioners in 1993. He served on the board for 17 years until July 22, 2010. Of those 17 years, Reverend Henderson served 16 years as chairman.
Housing Authority of Paducah Executive Director Cal Ross says, “Reverend Henderson’s work has been a major factor in the Housing Authority of Paducah’s rating as a “high performer” by Department of Housing and Urban Development and in the AAA bond rating by Standard and Poor’s. His dedication to the community and to the Housing Authority is extraordinary.”
Reverend Henderson’s many accomplishments with the Housing Authority include overseeing the spending of $78 million dollars in operating and capital grant funding and supporting the addition of air conditioning at both Elmwood and Anderson affecting 330 apartments. Reverend Henderson also works to support and encourage programs for families and youth including drug enforcement, computer learning centers, a painters apprentice program, home ownership programs, child care training, after school programs, boy scouts, tennis camp, junior police academy, and intergenerational programs.
Reverend Henderson currently serves as pastor at Washington Street Missionary Baptist Church. He has a Master of Divinity from the Southern Baptist Theological Seminary in Louisville, Kentucky and a Bachelor of Communication Arts from Judson College in Elgin, Illinois.
