General contractors and those in the construction-related industry are invited to provide their input and feedback regarding the city of Paducah Inspection Department at a meeting to be held Tuesday, May 8 at 3:30 p.m. at the Robert Cherry Civic Center. Light refreshments will be served.
At the meeting, City staff will attend and be prepared to answer questions about the permitting process and the City’s and State’s responsibilities regarding inspections. Contractors in attendance will be asked to complete a short survey providing feedback about the Inspection Department’s customer service, permitting process, and overall efficiency.
The city of Paducah currently is undergoing a pilot project in which the Fire Department is overseeing the day-to-day operations of the Inspection Department. City Manager Jeff Pederson says, “This format, with the Fire Department overseeing code enforcement, is not unusual. It has several advantages since the two departments already must work hand-in-hand to make sure Paducah’s structures are safe.” Using the feedback gained from this informational meeting, Pederson will make a recommendation to the Paducah Board of Commissioners on whether to proceed on uniting the two departments.
