“When you do something to benefit your community, it gives you a chance to focus outside yourself. Whenever you take the time to help others, you receive a great blessing”, says City of Paducah United Way Campaign Chair Claudia Meeks. Meeks is referring to Fire House Chili which benefits the United Way of Paducah-McCracken County.
The final Fire House Chili for the season will be Friday, November 18, 11:00 a.m. until 1:00 p.m. The City of Paducah invites everyone to stop by fire station 1 located at 301 Washington Street to purchase chili, chili dogs, and/or hot dogs cooked by fire fighters. All of the proceeds benefit the United Way. Bring the entire family or office and enjoy lunch at one of the many tables set up in the fire station’s heated bays.
Each week a different crew has been cooking the chili. For this Friday, the sensational chili recipe will be the responsibility of the crew from station 2 under the leadership of Captain Bill Roberts. Meeks says, “Firehouse Chili has been a lot of fun with a great response from the public and employees. I want to send a big thank you to the fire fighters. They cook the chili, set up the tables, and help with the cleaning. They are there to do whatever is needed.”
The City will provide a delivery service for orders that total at least $20.00. Deliver Order Form >> Please pre-order by Thursday, November 17 at 1:00 p.m. for lunch time delivery on Friday, November 18. This is the fifth year for Fire House Chili.
