The City of Paducah wants to remind citizens that on September 11, Patriot Day and the National Day of Service and Remembrance, the protocol is to fly the American flag and other flags yielding to the American flag at half-staff from sunrise to sunset in honor of the individuals who lost their lives on September 11, 2001.
By a joint resolution approved December 18, 2001, Congress designated September 11 of each year as Patriot Day. On April 21, 2009, Congress requested the observance of September 11 as an annually recognized National Day of Service and Remembrance.
