The annual Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Celebration organized by the Paducah/McCracken County Chapter of the NAACP will be held Monday, January 16. A march for the laying of the wreath at the Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. monument will start at approximately 10:15 a.m. at the Robert Cherry Civic Center. Participants will walk east along Park Avenue to the monument. There will be a police escort and a vehicle to carry those who can’t walk the distance. The annual luncheon immediately follows at the Civic Center. Call the local branch of the NAACP at (270)443-5430 for additional information.
The Martin Luther King, Jr. holiday affects City of Paducah services. City Hall located at 300 South 5th Street will be closed on Monday. Below are the changes to the Engineering-Public Works Department schedule.
- The City of Paducah will not collect brush or limbs on Monday, January 16.
- The Compost Facility located at 1560 North 8th Street is currently closed to the public for the routine grinding of brush.
The trash collection schedule for the week of January 17-20 will not change. If you have questions, contact the Engineering-Public Works Department at 444-8567.
