City of Paducah Engineering-Public Works crews and a contractor are continuing the project to improve the roads and drainage in Noble Park. Starting today crews are extending curbs and gutters and drainage features between Swim Drive (the connector road between the Noble Park Pool and the Skatepark) and the main exit for Noble Park on Park Avenue. Swim Drive will remain open during the work. However during work hours, traffic will not be allowed on the road next to the playground closest to Park Avenue. Traffic will be able to enter the park, drive around the lake, turn right at the poolhouse onto Swim Drive, and exit the park next to the ball fields. The playground will remain open; however, visitors will need to park next to the pool and walk to the playground.
Crews expect the work to take two weeks, weather permitting. The temporary road closure will be during work hours with the road opening to the public during the evening. Please use caution, and watch for the work crews and traffic control devices.
This is the next phase of work to improve Noble Park. In 2011, the four parking areas located on the south and east sides of the lake including the parking lots for the two playgrounds were improved. The parking lots received new entrances making them safer and more accessible in addition to curbs, gutters, drainage improvements, and new pavement. In 2010, to improve drainage and safety, crews reconstructed the parking lot next to the Noble Park poolhouse in addition to the road next to the amphitheater.
