Over the next few days crews with the Joint Sewer Agency (JSA) and the City of Paducah Engineering-Public Works Department will be working to install the sewer connections for the portable restrooms that will be used for the LowerTown Arts and Music Festival. The City purchased the three portable restroom units in 2010 to support the pavilion. One of the units is ADA accessible. The units must be connected to the sewer system. In order to make the connection, a small section of the pavement will be removed and then replaced with an access panel. The work will be on the 300 blocks of North 6th and North 7th Streets and the 500 block of Madison Street. Please use caution, and watch for the work crews and traffic control devices.
The City of Paducah and JSA worked with organizers of the LowerTown Arts and Music Festival in siting the locations for the restrooms. Organizers are planning for 15,000 in total attendance for the three-day festival which will be May 18, 3 p.m.-10 p.m.; May 19, 10 a.m.-10:30 p.m., and May 20, noon-5:00 p.m. The festival will include approximately 100 artists, three stages of entertainment, balcony and street theater, improvisation classes and performances, cooking demonstrations, children’s activities, and plenty of food.
