Paducah Skatepark

In October 2006, Paducah held a grand opening for the Paducah Skatepark located at Noble Park.  The skatepark is a concrete park located on the west side of Noble Park behind the ball fields and next to the entrance to the Greenway Trail.  A restroom facility is next to the skatepark in addition to bleachers for spectators.  There is no charge to enjoy the skatepark!  Skatepark Photos >>

Hours of Operation

Normal hours for the skatepark are from the time Noble Park opens Sunday through Thursday until 10 p.m. and until 12:30 a.m. Friday and Saturday.  The skatepark hours are established by the Parks Services Director.  The skatepark is lighted.  However, on any evening when there is no activity at the skatepark for a period of one hour after Noble Park closes, Park Rangers will turn off the lights and close the skatepark.  

Rules and Requirements

Paducah Parks Services has a zero tolerance policy for graffiti and will close the park until all graffiti is removed.

 Helmet Requirement:  According to the Paducah Code of Ordinances, all users of the skatepark whether on skateboard, roller skates, and/or bicycle must wear a helmet that is designed for use with a skateboard, roller skates, and/or bicycle.  No spectators are allowed in the skatepark area within 10 feet of the skating surface without a helmet.

1. The Paducah Skatepark is unsupervised.  Users assume all risks inherent in the use of this facility.  Use may result in serious injury up to and including death.
2. Know your abilities and skate at your own risk.
3. Minors should have parental supervision.
4. Only skateboards, roller skates, and bicycles are allowed in the skate area.
5. No motorized devices of any sort are allowed within the Paducah Skatepark.
6. Users shall wear a protective helmet (by ordinance).  Elbow, knee, and wrist pads are strongly encouraged.
7. Do not engage in reckless behavior (including, but not limited to, tandem riding, pushing, horseplay, fighting, and/or bullying), or any other activity that could endanger the safety of others.
8. No smoking, eating, or drinking allowed within the fenced area.
9. No glass containers in the fenced area.
10. No alcohol or drugs permitted.
11. No firearms, knives, or ther weapons allowed.
12. No items may be brought into the fenced area as obstacles, ramps or for any other purpose.
13. Do not proceed into the skate area until it is clear of other users and/or any debris.
14. Do not overcrowd the facility.
15. Do not use the facility during or after bad weather.  Certain weather conditions such as rain, snow, or ice can adversely affect ramps and surface conditions.
16. No spectators inside the skating area.
17. Skating is permitted during hours established by Parks Services Director.
18. No pets are allowed insde the fenced area.
19. The Kentucky Recreational Use Statute (KRS 411.190) applies to the Paducah Skatepark.

History of Skatepark

Talk of the Skatepark began in 2002 with the City of Paducah Parks Master Plan.  By December 2003, there was a public petition supporting a concrete skatepark, and in February 2004 a skatepark committee was formed.  With financial support from the City Commission to start the skatepark design, the committee accepted a challenge made by the Commission and fundraised dollars toward the effort.  The City challenged the public to raise $100,000.  The project was funded through a $75,000 Federal Land and Water Conservation Grant, a $20,000 donation from the Honorable Society of the Kentucky Colonels, a $50,000 anonymous donation, public fundraising of $30,000 dollars, and the City of Paducah.  The skatepark was constructed in 2006 with the grand opening ceremony on October 28, 2006.
