Dogs at Special Events
As a reminder, pets are allowed at city-sponsored community events; however, for the public’s safety, the City’s dog ordinance, Chapter 14 lists three requirements. The dog must be
- licensed by McCracken County Animal Control or by any other state or county;
- restrained by a leash or other lead that is no longer than three feet; and
- restrained by a muzzle.
Bikes on Broadway
Join us for our 2012 Bikes on Broadway events on the following Sundays: May 20, June 10, July 8, September 9, and October 14. From 1:00 - 4:00 p.m., Broadway will be closed from 4th to 17th Streets, to vehicular traffic and open for bicycles, scooters, skateboards, roller blades, big wheels, etc. Vehicular traffic will be able to cross Broadway at 9th and 13th Streets with the help of volunteers. BikeWorld will be set up at 17th Street to provide maintenance assistance and to try out bicycles.
Halloween Short Story Contest
Kids in 6th through 8th grades are invited to submit a story about Halloween for the Halloween Short Story Contest organized by the Paducah Parks Services Department. The deadline to submit the short story is Friday, September 16 at 5:00 p.m. The story must be typed and a maximum of 600 words. There is no fee to submit an entry; however, only one story per person. The story must be about Halloween. All stories MUST begin with the following phrase: “The moon was full and a mysterious fog crept up the path as the darkness of the night settled in.” Mail or bring entries to Paducah Parks Services; 1400 H.C. Fall Fest
Join us for a fun day of activities at our annual Fall Fest. Walk along the Pumpkin Trail, Build a Scarecrow, Ride on the Hayride, and dress up for the Costume Contest. If you'd like to build a scarecrow you must pre-register to assure enough supplies. We will be accepting carved pumpkins for the Pumpkin Trail until Friday, October 21 at 6:00 pm. The Pumpkins will be judged and then placed along the Pumpkin Trail for Fall Fest on Saturday October 22.
Each family can submit 1 pumpkin into the contest for judging for free. Each additional pumpkin will require an entry fee of $1. To build a scarecrow, you will need to bring adult sized clothing, a pillowcase, and any other adornments you need for your scarecrow. Scarecrows will be judged in 3 categories: Scary Scarecrow, Sporty Scarecrow, and Classic Scarecrow. Forms and safety pins will be provided for those who are pre-registered and until we run out. $10 fee per scarecrow. Prizes will be awarded for the Costume Contest in 2 categories: Home made Costume and Store bought Costume.
Veterans Day Distinguished Veteran, Essay Contest, and Parade
In celebration of Veterans Day Paducah Parks Services and the Daughters of the American Revolution will sponsor an Essay Contest for K-12th graders. Click Flyer for more information.
The Veterans Day Parade Committee and the City of Paducah would like to invite you to come and see the Veterans Day Parade. Come support or veterans! The parade will begin at 11:00 am on Friday, November 11th at 2nd and Broadway. The Parade will travel down Broadway to 17th Street where it will disband. Only veterans and family of veterans are premitted to enter a float in the parade. School groups please pre - register for a spot along Broadway by calling 444-8508.

Teen Movie Night
Paducah Parks Services is hosting Teen Movie Night this Saturday, November 19, 6:00 until 9:00 p.m. at the Paducah Recreation Center located at 1527 Martin Luther King, Jr. Drive. Teen Movie Night costs $1 per person. During the event, teens ages 13 to 18 can enjoy the movie, a costume contest, food, and prize drawings. The movie that will be shown is Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides (136 minutes; rated PG-13). The event will be chaperoned with several adults present.
Christmas Parade
The City of Paducah would like to invite you to join us for our Annual Christmas Parade. This year's parade theme is "Do You Hear What I Hear?" With usually over 100 entries, the Christmas Parade is a wonderful attraction of music and lights! The parade is scheduled for Saturday, December 3rd at 5:00 pm. The parade will begin at 13th and Broadway, head down Broadway to 2nd Street, turn on to 2nd and head to Jefferson where it will disband.
To enter a float/non-float in to the parade please fill out the entry form below and send to Parks Services by November 18th. Entry forms received after November 18th will be charged a $25 late fee. Entry forms received after November 28th will not be accepted.

Breakfast with Santa and the Annual Candy Cane Hunt
Paducah Parks Services will be hosting two fun holiday events for the whole family on Saturday, December 10. Start your Saturday by enjoying Breakfast with Santa Claus at the Paducah Recreation Center located at 1527 Martin Luther King, Jr. Drive. The free event starts at 8:00 a.m. After chatting and eating with Santa, children 12 and under will burn a few of those breakfast calories at the annual Candy Cane Hunt at Keiler Park located at 2900 Broadway. The lawn will be covered with 500 candy canes with the kids racing to find as many as they can. The event starts at 10:00 a.m. There is no cost to participate. Door prizes will be given away.
